To practice cognitive theories, the human serviceworker would need to be directive and engaged in the therapeuticprocess.  What degree of client involvement do you feelcomfortable with?  In addition, Ellis (1990) postulatesthat "we have final dominion over much of the pleasure and painthat come from circumstances beyond our control" (as cited inParrott, 2003, p. 3).  Do you think cognitive theory issimplistic in this way?  Why or why not?
